Shredded cheese is better than those hunks. While milk and yogurt are very good sources of calcium, try to stick to those no-fat or low fat products.

Vegetables are fantastic weight controllers. They are rich in dietary fiber, don’t have too many calories and are pretty filling. Properly made, even the uninteresting salad can be pretty tempting. Fresh vegetables are loaded with vitamins and minerals.

Five portions of vegetables varying in color not only give you sufficient nutrients but a wide range of nutrients. They are also high in phytochemicals.

Grains, especially whole grains are ideal for weight loss. They are definitely better than refined foods. Pasta, oats, barley, semolina, wheat are rich in B- vitamins, minerals and dietary fiber. On the other hand, sugary foods like ice cream, candy, pies, cakes are laden with calories. So go easy on them or else, your bathroom scales will tell a story that you wouldn’t like to hear.

The formula for dieting is obvious- 'eat healthy, reduce intake of calorie laden foods, indulge once in a while, drink lots of water and exercise'. Before you are aware of it, you will lose that flab and become fitter and healthier.
