Those tempting sugar cookies, coated with
chocolate could be an eye-sore, especially when they are amongst
the listed banned foods for you.
Whether insulin-dependent or non-insulin dependent diabetic,
the last thing on any of your plates are the cookies made from
sugar. And even if you can have them, it can only be one,
maximum two, only once in a way. No cookie-binging. |
But then, there is nothing really to fret about, considering that
confectioners have found an alternate cookie recipe, so that diabetics
can own their own cookie jars. And they taste just like the ones you see
regularly in the market.
The diabetic cookies have all the ingredients like the sugar ones, the
primary difference being that instead of the sugar, the sugar
substitutes are to be used. Also, low-fat butter, or low-cholesterol
butter should be used. Many use margarine instead. This makes the
cookies lighter and with far lesser calories than otherwise.
Here are some diabetic cookie recipes you could try out at home. And
mind you, if the entire family shifts to eating these, then its good
health for everyone.
