child nutrition

What is the importance of nutrition? Good nutrition is responsible for laying the foundation of good mental, physical and emotional well being.

Nutrition is claimed to play a pivotal role in hormonal activities and functions. Hence it is essential to track your food nutrition for a healthy living. This holds true not only for adults but for kids as well. A child's nutrition is important to his/her overall health.

Proper nutrition can also prevent many medical problems, including becoming overweight, developing weak bones, and developing other disorders. It will also ensure that your child physically grows to his/her full potential. The best nutrition advise to parents to keep their child healthy includes encouraging him/her to eat a variety of foods, balance the food they eat with physical activity, choose a diet with plenty of grain products, vegetables and fruits, choose a diet low in fat, saturated fat, and cholesterol, choose foods that are moderate in sugars and salt, select foods that provide enough calcium and iron to meet their growing body's requirements.

Child education in nutrition is extremely essential. Parents must make their child understand about different foods and their effects on out body. If a child learns about all this at an early age, he/she can live a healthy life throughout. Healthy eating habits and regular exercise should be a regular part of a family's life; this will help children to learn from their parents who will in turn provide a good example for them.

Child health nutrition has become the growing need of the day. With more and more children falling prey to diseases and disorders, a lot of emphasis should be given on the five major food groups, all of which are required for good health. Dairy products provide proteins, vitamins and minerals and hence they are an excellent source of calcium. A child should at least have two to three servings of milk, yogurt or buttermilk each day.

Kids on nutrition and nutritional foods are seen to be much healthier than those who are not. It is always better to provide your child with skim milk and nonfat yogurt. Avoid the use of high fat cheese and ice cream as they are harmful for our body.  A lot of candies and chocolates should also be restricted in a child’s diet as sugars supply a large amount of calories, with little nutritional value.
The government Health Development Section has chosen families with young children to promote healthy eating by developing various child nutrition programs especially for kids from poor families.

Government also holds various lectures and seminars on health and nutrition so that young parents know about child heath nutrition and its added benefits. They also advise parents to study product labels to know about nutritional benefits of a particular product.  It is very essential that parents play a role model to their children in terms of living a healthy and a fit life. Nutritional awareness is a must for parents so that they can impart healthy living habits in their growing children.
