Most people view event caterer as a person who sets up food at the dinner tables or is offering to serve food at buffets.  The food is either prepared on the site itself or is prepared and brought to the desired venue. The catering service is more often provided at banquets, conventions and weddings. A catered event is where all the attendants are provided with food and drink.
 
Industrial catering includes providing food for airline passengers, schools, prisons and other institutional settings. It mostly provodes food service facilities on contract management. Industrial catering operates with many companies and industrial sites.
 
Wedding catering services are most required during the Indian wedding season i.e. in December and January. A wedding caterer has to ensure that all the necessary ingredients are present for the menu, ensuring that the staff is at its desired best, management of the kitchen equipments and food production etc. Airline catering services are usually the third party service providers of food for passengers.
 
Catering services business is conducted on a per person basis price. In hotels, the catering department is headed by the manager who is responsible for serving food to the guests. The Manager and Assistant Managers decide on the price of the menu items and ensure that the quality of food preparation and service is consistent. Industrial Catering Services usually refer to the provision of food and beverages on a large scale to corporate bodies and institutions in their cafeteria, guesthouses, and other specialized location.
Food catering services need a lot of management and experience. They need to prepare food and do services as per the menu and time specified ensuring quality, reducing wastage, spillage and spoilage. Client satisfaction and preparation of tasty appealing food is of prime importance in any function.
